Three professional workflows
- Competitor gap analysis (Ahrefs/SEMrush): enter a competitor's domain → see their top pages & keywords → find keywords they rank for and you don't → build better pages for those. This is the fastest content strategy that exists.
- Link intersect: find sites linking to 2–3 competitors but not you → those sites clearly link to your industry → pitch them your better resource.
- Monthly health check (GSC + Screaming Frog): indexing errors? CTR drops on key queries? broken links? duplicate titles? Fix monthly before problems compound.
Budget path: Start 100% free — GSC + GA4 + Screaming Frog + Ahrefs Webmaster Tools cover most needs. Buy a paid suite only when client work or scale demands it.
